Terms of Service

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how TheAlterMeAI (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, web application, and the optional browser extension that works with X (Twitter) (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Information we collect

Account and sign-in. We use Google sign-in (OAuth). When you authenticate, we may receive your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile image. We store this information to create and maintain your user record and session.

Profile and linked X (Twitter) data. To personalize content and tie features to your social presence, we store information associated with your connected X account, such as your X handle, display name, bio, follower count, and avatar URL when you provide or sync them.

Content you provide. We store the text and metadata you add in the product, including personal profile entries, knowledge Knowledge Vault entries, planned posts, scheduling preferences, and similar materials you choose to save.

AI features. When you use generation features, your prompts and related context (for example, tweet text you ask us to reply to, or excerpts we retrieve from your library) are sent to our servers and then to configured AI providers to produce outputs. We log usage events such as approximate token counts and estimated cost for billing and operations.

Embeddings and search. To power retrieval, similarity, and deduplication, we may compute vector embeddings from your stored content using a configured embedding provider. Optional web search (for example, for quote-related features) may send a limited query to a search API when enabled in our environment.

Extension activity. If you use our browser extension while signed in, it communicates with our API using your session. We may record posting-related activity you choose to save (for example, snippets of posts or replies) to show history and analytics inside the product. The extension may read the X page in your browser to offer on-page tools; content is processed as needed when you trigger a feature.

Technical data. Like most web services, we receive standard server and security logs (for example, IP address, browser type, timestamps, and request metadata) and use cookies or similar technologies to keep you signed in and protect the Services.

Media. Profile images may be processed or hosted using our configured image service when you upload an avatar.

How we use information

We use the information above to provide, operate, and improve the Services; authenticate you; personalize outputs; schedule and surface your content; measure AI usage; maintain security; troubleshoot issues; and comply with law. We do not sell your personal information.

Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate legal bases under applicable data protection law, such as: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services (where not overridden by your rights); and consent where required (for example, for certain cookies or marketing, if we offer them).

Sharing and subprocessors

We share information with service providers who help us run the Services, including, depending on configuration: hosting and database providers; authentication (Google); AI and embedding providers; optional web search providers; and image hosting. These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. You may delete certain content in the product where supported; account deletion processes may vary—contact us if you need help removing your account.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your request.

California. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Step-by-step instructions for requesting deletion of data we hold (including after you remove our app from Facebook or Instagram) are on our Data deletion instructions page.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date below. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
